WINDEUROPE HIGHLIGHTS WIND ENERGY SUPPLY CHAIN AROUND İZMİR

WindEurope, the voice of wind energy in Europe, draws attention to the impact of wind energy targets and projects of Türkiye, which obtains 11 %of its electricity from wind.

WindEurope’s CEO Giles Dickson stated at the 12 th Turkish Wind Energy Congress (TÜREK) , which took place in Istanbul on November 7-8 2023, that 13 factories operating in İzmir, producing towers, blades, gearboxes and generators, export 80% of their products, especially to Europe. He emphasized that this makes Türkiye an important part of the wider European wind energy supply chain.

It was emphasized by Dickson that the expansion around Çandarlı Port and Integrated İzmir Clean Energy Specialized Organized Industrial Zone, for which feasibility studies are being carried out by our Agency, will take the Turkish industry to the next level, by increasing economic growth and employment.

The presence of large amounts of rare earth deposits in Türkiye, used in permanent magnets in wind turbines, as well as glass fiber used in wind turbine blades, have been cited as important factors in our country playing a central role in Europe’s extensive wind energy supply chain.
