13 Oct 2023 WESTERN ANATOLIA FREE ZONE (BASBAŞ) RISING AS A NEW OPPORTUNITY
BASBAŞ, located in Bergama district of İzmir, will make a great contribution to the economic revival of the region and create new jobs. The first stage infrastructure investments in BASBAŞ have been completed and the construction of the factories that will be operational in the first half of 2024 is continuing.
As Bergama is being located at the intersection point of rail, land and sea transport connections, BASBAŞ has the shortest and fastest road connection to Europe with 1915 Çanakkale Bridge. Additionally BASBAŞ is connected to the world with the ports in Aliağa Nemrut Bay. The North Aegean Port to be established in Çandarlı will provide an edge to the companies in the free zone in terms of transporting their products to global markets. The companies can also benefit from the advanced industrial infrastructure of the Aegean and Marmara regions as well as İzmir, which has a highly educated population of 4.5 million.
BASBAŞ consists of a total area of 2.500.000 m2. 60% of the land to be leased is given the right to construct a closed area. Project design studies continues for ready-made production modules. A limited number of modules are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2024. All the needs of companies regarding basic services such as electricity, water, natural gas and telecommunication will be met. In BASBAŞ, which is the new generation free zone of our country, the entire infrastructure is being built with the principle of zero waste in order to ensure environmental sustainability.
Economic and social life in Bergama, the new center of attraction for investors, is revitalized with BASBAŞ. With the contribution of free zone, the labor market is starting to revive in the north of İzmir. Projects are being implemented to provide qualified graduates needed by the industry in the region. BASBAŞ is expected to provide direct employment to 20 thousand people, reach an annual trade volume of over 4 billion dollars and an export of over 2 billion dollars when it reaches its full capacity.
