28 Nov 2022 TOFAŞ TO PRODUCE SOFTWARE FOR STELLANTIS BRANDS AND MODELS WITH THE R&D CENTER ESTABLISHED IN İZMİR
The ‘Automotive Software Development Branch’ opened by Tofaş R&D in Teknopark İzmir started its operations. With the new center opened within the scope of its strategy to expand its R&D activities, Tofaş will increase the scope of its activities in the field of automotive software and take its responsibilities in the field of engineering for different brands and models in the Stellantis world to a higher level. The center is also expected to make a significant contribution to the rapidly developing software industry in İzmir.
The new center, established by Tofaş in İzmir, will work on data science and artificial intelligence applications, as well as smart vehicle architecture, autonomous/driverless vehicle solutions, connectivity solutions, automotive cybersecurity, and fleet management and optimization algorithms.
Cengiz EROLDU, CEO of Tofaş, said “The position and importance of software in the product development process is increasing day by day. The interaction of our customers with vehicles is shaped by developing digital technologies and more software. Based on this development, we have defined the development of our R&D capabilities in the fields of connectivity, infotainment, propulsion systems control software and advanced driving support, as the main elements of Tofaş’s R&D strategy. With this perspective, we continue the pioneering steps we have taken in the field of connectivity in Turkey with the growth of our R&D center as a software center in the automotive area. We are also planning to respond to the global need as part of Stellantis’ software-centered growth strategy with the “Automotive Software Development Branch”, which started its operations in İzmir. We will evaluate young people, who are trained in the fields of machinery, mechatronics, control, automotive, computer, electrical/electronic, and aerospace engineering, who can design software algorithms and who are competent in model-based embedded software development in our projects and we will develop their expertise.”
