31 May 2022 GLOBAL LEADER IN PACKAGING AND PAPER MONDI CONTINUES TO GROW IN İZMİR
Mondi is a UK-based global leader in packaging and paper, employing around 26,500 people at over 100 production sites across more than 30 countries, with key operations located in Europe, North America and Africa. In İzmir, Mondi operates with its two plants, Mondi Tire Kutsan in Tire and Mondi Olmuksan in İzmir Kemalpaşa Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ). Mondi now is preparing to expand and modernize its facility in İzmir Kemalpaşa OIZ with an investment of 29 million Euros.
Mondi’s business is integrated across the value chain – from managing forests and producing pulp, paper and films, to developing and manufacturing effective industrial and consumer packaging solutions. The Mondi Olmuksan plant in İzmir Kemalpaşa OIZ, primarily serves the tobacco, fresh fruit and vegetables, and poultry segments in the Aegean region with a 70 million sqm capacity and 46,600 sqm area. Mondi acquired 90 percent of this plant in Kemalpaşa OIZ in 2021 for 66 million Turkish Liras.
Mondi Tire Kutsan plant specializes in creating value-added, high-quality print products. The plant’s product mix includes standard American boxes and die cutting boxes. The acquisition of this plant in 2007 with a 20 million Euros investment, reflects Mondi’s leading market position and strategy of pursuing high quality and supreme performance. All processes from the raw material input to the final product are monitored by a modern quality control laboratory with test equipment that reflects international standards. All the crucial points in the process are monitored and managed by a highly developed distributed control system.
