12 Nov 2021 FIRST PROTOTYPES OF TURKEY’S DOMESTIC WIND TURBINE TO BE PRODUCED IN COOPERATION WITH EÜAŞ AND ASELSAN TO BE ESTABLISHED IN İZMİR
EÜAŞ, the state-owned Electricity Generation Company in Türkiye, signed a contract with Aselsan for the manufacture of domestic wind turbines to provide Türkiye with design and production capabilities for domestic technologies. Aselsan is the leading company in the Turkish Defense Industry and has the goal of becoming a leading technology supplier of energy system solutions, by exploiting the Company’s rooted and innovative engineering traditions.
Domestic production of wind turbines is planned to be carried out within the scope of the modernization of the Alaçatı Wind Power Plant, which is located in İzmir and is one of the first wind power plants established in Türkiye. The project will be carried out by Aselsan under the supervision of EÜAŞ and the Industry General Directorate within the scope of the Industry Cooperation Projects Program of the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Within the scope of the project, it is aimed to produce and install 2 domestic wind turbine prototypes, each with a power capacity of 4 MW, within the existing site boundaries of Alaçatı WPP.
